Short, Short, BIG!
Short, Short, BIG! (SSB!) is a comprehensive toolkit designed to enhance evidence-based writing in middle school classrooms. Developed by a team of literacy experts specializing in working with students in the Lexile range of 350-790, this standards-based program focuses on academic recovery and delivers measurable results. It addresses the deficiencies of effective writing in middle school for both students and teachers.
Short, Short, BIG! creates mastery of writing skills. Upon completion students will be able to take their new writing skills and easily apply throughout their class load. It begins with the premise that all students must understand what they’re being asked to read. To meet this need It features short reads with captivating content on high-interest topics, tailored to student competency. They are well written, but short reads. This program offers engaging reading comprehension lessons, grammar instruction, and all-inclusive resources, and employs a scaffolded approach to writing instruction, gradually building skills and meeting learners at their level. With step-by-step lesson planning, teachers can guide students towards significant writing gains.
